Evangelist Missionary Dorothy Mae Oliver, was born the third of eight children on August 5, 1946 in Hayti, MO to the late Robert Earl Oliver, Sr. and Bertha Lee Oliver. God called her home Saturday, May 13, 2017 in the presence of her home.
She attended the Central School in Hayti, MO. She furthered her education by attending Forest Park Community College and Florissant Valley Community College, both in St. Louis, Missouri.
She married Zelvin Hill in 1987. Later, she married Floyd Austin, who preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Earl, Sr. and Bertha Lee Oliver; two brother: Jessie Oliver; and Robert Earl Oliver, Jr..
Dorothy and her family moved to St. Louis when she was a very young woman. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Deaconess Hospital, Russman Bus Company as a School Bus Driver, and retired from Metro Bi-State Transit after 14 years of service. She enjoyed driving and she was very energetic and never met a stranger. She loved working around people.
She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She attended Fountain C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of her uncle, Emeritus Superintendent Nathaniel Smith for many years. She later, served as a faithful member at Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of General Board Member Bishop Lawrence Wooten and she served briefly at Restoration Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Superintendent Sherman Strong. She was a strong and anointed woman of God who was full of wisdom and knowledge. Throughout her Ministry she served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher, a dedicated Choir Member, served on the Usher Board and as an Evangelist Missionary.
She leaves to cherish her two daughters, Debra Bateman of Lincoln, Nebraska and Tonya (Rodery) Bryant of St. Louis, Missouri; five sisters, Willie Mae Bell of Tucson, AZ, Marie Sellers, Essie West of St. Louis, MO, Helen (Charles) Davis of Hayti, MO, Teresa (Frank) Rose ;one brother, Ricky (Alisa) Oliver of Hayti, MO; one uncle, Superintendent Nathaniel (Willie Mae) Smith of St. Louis, MO; two aunts, Mary Leslie and Jimmie Lee Smith both of Benton Harbor, MI; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
