Ned Pickens, Jr.

Elder Ned Pickens, Jr. was born July 26, 1939 to the late Ned Pickens, Sr. and the late CleaseAnna Pickens in Swan Lake, MS.

Elder Ned dedicated his life to Christ at an early age.  He began ministering at the age of 19 at North 6th Street Church, where he met the Love of his life, Margaret (Gatewood) Pickens, who preceded him in death.  They soon wed January 14, 1962 and together they had 7 beautiful children, 2 of which preceded him in death; a daughter, Linda Kay Pickens and a son Deon Pickens.  A granddaughter, Linda's daughter Shameka, also preceded him in death.  He is also preceded in death by a brother, Simon Pickens and sister, Catherine Sheilds.

Elder Ned leaves behind a son: Lorenzo Pickens of Jefferson City, MO, and 4 daughters: Patricia Walls and Debra Pickens of Hayti, MO, Sophelia Diane (Charles) Burnett, and Melissa (Mickey) Quinton of Memphis, TN: 3 brothers and 2 sisters, all of St. Louis, MO: Glenn Pickens, Ronald Pickens, Tracy (Valerie) Pickens, and 2 sisters: Annette Croft and Angela Pickens, an uncle, Roosevelt (Ethel Mae) Martin, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and a special friend, Ms. Brenda McVay.
