Alvin Lee Gates

Alvin Lee Gates was born January 24, 1956 in Marianna, Arkansas to the late Joe and Barbara Gates.  He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age.  He went on to complete his studies  in Marianna, Arkansas.  Alvin was affectionately known to family and friends a "V".  He departed from labor to reward on November 29, 2016 in Cape Girardeau, MO.  Alvin did enjoy life to the fullest and made all that was around him happy.

He leaves to cherish his memories a wife Carmen Gates of Caruthersville, MO; daughters, Anita (Awton) Bond and Cassondra Carter both of Memnphis, TN; grandchildren, DeAndre Winters of Columbia, MO, Zakia and Kiara Applewhite of Memphis, TN; great grandchildren, King Applewhite of Memphis, TN; and several step-children in Caruthersville, MO; sisters, Mae West Gates of Helena, AR; brothers, Narvis of Texas and G.L. (Jean) Gates of St. Louis, MO, Tommie of Florida, three special nieces, Carol "Cali Coolie", Evelyn "Elp", Diane "Neck", a special nephew, Steven "Trouble", a special sister-in-law Dorothy "I'm tired brother" Robinson-Aaron, a host of other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Alvin is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara, his fayher, Joe, sisters, Beulah Gates, Willie Mae Brown and Evangelist Ann Noble-Vickers, and brothers, F.L. and Donald Gates and a special sister-in-law, Melissa Gates.
