Dovie May (Whitaker) Green

On January 21, 1960, a beautiful soul was born to Arthur L. Whitaker and Jessie M. Whitaker.  They named her Dovie May Whitaker, lovingly known to family and friends as “Debbie Jo.”  Debbie received her education in Homestown, Missouri.  After graduating from high school she relocated to Columbia, Missouri where she worked and raised her three children.

In 2003, Debbie married and returned back to southeast Missouri settling in Caruthersville, Missouri.  It was after this time that Debbie joined the Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ where she developed a personal relationship with God, profoundly declaring her love for him.  Debbie worked as a home health care nurse where she provided loving care for the elderly.  She was known to have a kind, nurturing, and charitable Spirit, doing anything she could to help anyone.  To have known Debbie, was to know love.  

On December 16, 2018, at the age of 58, Debbie transitioned from Earth to Heaven.  She was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother Wilmon Tyler, of Flint Michigan.

Debbie’s beautiful memory will forever be cherished in the lives of her three children: Donte (LaKiasha) of Houston, Texas,  Rashonda Lee of St. Louis, Missouri, and Christopher Haynes of Columbia, Missouri.  Two stepsons: Dennis Green Jr. and Demitri Green of Caruthersville, Missouri.  Brothers: William, Arthur, and Edward Whitaker of Columbia, Missouri, and William and Jesse Whitaker of Flint, Michigan.  Sisters: Carliss and Sally Whitaker of Columbia, Missouri and Brenda and Juanita Whitaker of Flint, Michigan. 11 grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
