Howard Allen answered the call to our heavenly Father on Saturday June 17, 2017 at his home in Hayti Heights, Missouri. He was born March 7, 1944 in Hayti, Missouri to the late Andrew and Classie Allen. After the passing of his mother in 1977, Howard accepted the Lord as the head of his life. Upon graduation from Hayti Central High School, he moved to Michigan. Howard and Elnora (Elmira) married on May 5, 1984. To their union, their son Andrew Allen was born. He retired from Ford Motor Company after almost 25 years of service. He was a brilliant entrepreneur who founded two adult foster care facilities which provided a quality living environment for the mentally challenged for almost 30 years.
In 1991, Howard and his family returned to his hometown in Hayti to fulfil the Lord's vision to build a church, Tabernacle of Love. He was also instrumental in the organization of the Tabernacle of Love Day Care which provided childcare for 100's of children for over 27 years. He had a passion for the needs of the community. Often misunderstood, he was a bold advocate against injustice.
He had a passion for the word of God and was a Bible scholar. He loved to read and talk about the Bible.
He was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Odell Allen, Ruby Lee Banks, and Tommie Lee Allen.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Elnora Allen; a son, Andrew (Rachel) Allen; step-daughters, Vera Martin and ShaWanna Cook, eight grandchildren, a brother, Vernon (Elizabeth) Allen, a sister, Bernice Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
