Bessie Louise Pettigrew was born July 11, 1955 to Clarence Lee and Jessie Mae Webster (Collins) in Sardis, Mississippi. She was the second of six children. Bessie left to claim her heavenly home on March 21, 2016 from Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Bessie enjoyed giving of herself, spending time with her family, and working actively at St. James Word of Faith, her home church, where she was a member for 19 years. She served faithfully as president of the choir, personal aid for her Co-Pastor's father and where ever she could be used. She always had a word of encouragement to share with those in need. Professionally, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 27 years until her health made it no longer possible. She loved unconditionally and her laugh was contagious. Through all she endured, she never complained about her situation in life. She lived the life she professed and did all she could to share the message of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice with those who would listen.
Bessie was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Webster; mother, Jessie Collins; and brother, Robert Webster.
She leaves her husband, Arthur Pettigrew; and as a legacy, her children: Lejuane Johnson, Stacy Johnson, Terry (Joy) Johnson, Kesha Johnson (Ron) Holloway, and Jessica (Justin) Rose; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Michael (Edith)Webster, Danny (Rhonda) Webster, Terry (Martha) Webster; sister, Clara (David) Wooden; aunts, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She will be missed, but God has a purpose and he knows what's best.
