Deborah Louise Leatherwood was born February 17, 1953 to the late William Leatherwood and Mattie Davis of Caruthersville, Missouri. Deborah graduated from Caruthersville High School. Deborah received her spiritual guidance at Pentecostal Power Church under the leadership of the late Bishop James Lane.

Deborah had many nicknames Lil Head, Madea, Deb, Buckwheat or Debbie just to name a few. Deborah loved watching tv especially her western movies.
