Elder Charlie Mac Clayborn was born on October 26, 1937 in Hughes, Arkansas to Eula Mae Thomas and Johnie Clayborn, who have both preceded him in death. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Vera Mae King on June 6, 1985. To this union, three children were born, two sons and one daughter.
Elder C.M. Clayborn dedicated over 50 years of his life to preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ all over the country. For over 40 of those years he pastored several congregations, some of which included Full Gospel Evangelist Church in Hayti Heights, MO, Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Hayti, MO, and Holy Temple Church of God in Howardsville, MO.
His passion for the call to bring souls to Christ drove him to the streets and the community around him. His ministry expanded far beyond the church walls, and included evangelistic work touching lives everywhere. He was also known for the time he spent playing his guitar, under many tent revivals, marches and crusades, and leading parades with his "car-top bull horns". He served as the State Evangelist for the Holy Trinity Church of Deliverance, Inc., an organization that served southeast region churches in Cairo, IL, Hayti and Caruthersville, MO, Marion IL, Du Quoin, IL, and Charleston MO.
For several years as a small business owner, he sold all forms of gospel music and shared his passion for music with the community. Elder C.M. Clayborn graced the local KCRV radio station every Sunday morning with his love of old school gospel music, prayers for the sick and shut in, and compelling preaching. He also served his community as the Hayti Heights Alderman and Chairman of the Board for the Hayti Heights Housing Authority for a short period of time.
Elder C.M. Clayborn transitioned from this life to his Heavenly Home on January 27, 2016 under the loving and tender care of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one sister, Lucy Mae Woods and two brothers, Rev. Charlie Jones and William Wright, and one adopted daughter Jessica White.
