Hattie Ruth Covington was born March 15, 1942 in Coffeeville, Mississippi. She transitioned at her home in Caruthersville, Missouri November 25th 2025.
She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of J.T. Spicer at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Caruthersville, Missouri and attended church there until her health failed her. She loved going to church and singing in the choir. Hattie worked at the shipyard as a welder for 30 years where she retired. She was a caring and loving person that loved to smile. She would help anyone that crossed her path. She will be missed deeply by us all.
Hattie was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Arverdia and Sell Covington; her brothers Clemmie Covington, Ira Lewis Covington, and Harold Covington; her sisters Dorothy Ubah and Jackie Covington.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Peggy Covington and Jill Covington of Caruthersville, Missouri; three brothers: Sell Covington, Perry Lee Covington of Sikeston, Missouri, and Jerry Covington of Hayti, Missouri; two sisters: Annie Ruth Massodi and Lettie Jean Rhoden of Sikeston, Missouri; three grandchildren: Raquel Covington, Renaldo Prather, and Omarion Nichols; three great-grandchildren: Treyvohn Covington, Janeisha Hayes, and Yuriah Prather. Hattie has two special children that she raised and loved like her own Jaquan Nichols and Angel Jones of Caruthersville, Missouri; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends. A special thank you to Fleuretta Hunt whom we love so much.
