A time to be born: James Ira Taylor was born October 24, 1936 in Como, Mississippi to Elijah and Idell Taylor.

A time to die: The final chapter in James' life was written July 3, 2014 at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Missouri. His parents; three sisters, Amanda Smith, Lucy Griffin, Mary Johnson; seven brothers, Elijah Taylor II, Albert Taylor, Eddie Taylor, David Taylor, Tony Taylor, Robert Taylor and Frank Taylor all preceded him in death.

A time to plant: He moved to Missouri at an early age and did farm work most of his life. He was affectionately called “Shug” by those who knew and loved him. His favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm.

A time to mourn: He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Pearlie Tilson-Taylor; eighteen (18) children; two sisters, Idell Holt and Ella Mae Taylor both of Como, Mississippi; fifty-nine grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; special nieces, Ollie Tilson and Ida Mark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
