James West, Sr. was born October 23, 1937 to the late Sarah and Jim West in Joiner, AR. He departed this life on June 9, 2024 at his home with his loving wife and son by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents: Sarah and Jim West; son: Jerry West; sisters: Jimmie Former and Vera West; brothers: Calvin West, Sr., Willie West, Sr., Isaiah West Sr., and Frank West, Sr.
He moved to Hayti, MO in 1951, where he attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Kennard. He later joined Pleasant Grove #2 Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for Pemiscot County and Helena Chemicals. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving trucks, working in his garden, and taking care of his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 60 years, Ann West of Hayti, MO; his sons: Pete Hall of Killeen, TX and James West, Jr. of Portageville, MO; sisters: Ida Brooks of Hayti, MO, Dorothy (Jim) Brandon of Elgin, IL, and Jewelene Former of Elgin, IL; and brother: Tommy West of Elgin, IL.
He also leaves to cherish his memory: his grandchildren, great grandchildren, loved ones and friends.
