Josette Gennay Glover

February 20, 1977 ~ November 4, 2015 (age 38) 38 Years Old

Josette Gennay Glover was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 20, 1977. As a little girl “Josetta” lived with her grandparents, Willie Mae Pulliam and the late Elder John Willie Pulliam in Kennett, Missouri. At an early age, Josetta showed that she was a gifted athlete with a competitive spirit.  She excelled in the youth softball and basketball leagues, bringing home the MVP trophy almost every year. Josetta also spent a lot of time playing with her cousins Dale, Gayle, and Kellie.  On any given day you could find the four of them on their grandmother’s carport singing a song that Josetta made up, as she beat out a drum tune on the side of the freezer. She loved to drum a beat on anything!  At Victory Temple COGIC in Kennett, Josetta often beat the drums and cymbals, as the congregation sang and the pastor preached.

In 1993, Josetta moved to St. Louis, Missouri to live with her aunt.  Here, she excelled in basketball as well as track and field.  She graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1995 and earned a basketball scholarship to Lewis and Clark College.

Josetta was eager to rush into the work force, and so she did.  In her early twenties, Josetta was restaurant manager for various restaurant chains.  Although she was not much older than some of her fellow employees, Josetta was in charge of scheduling, financial paperwork, and sometimes firing. Josetta often sounded like a grandmother as she “corrected” the workers and told them they had to do their jobs better.

As her health became a challenge, Josetta had to stop working and focus on doctor appointments and medicines.  No matter how tired or sick she became, Josetta got up to do whatever she could to remain independent. During her most serious health battles, Josetta remembered her upbringing in the church, and she began to cry out to the Lord.  Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Josette Gennay Glover will be fondly remembered by her dear grandmother who raised her, Willie Mae Pulliam of Kennett, MO, her mother, Charlie Mae Magnussen of Kansas City, MO, her sisters Katina Magnussen of St. Louis, MO, and Karla Magnussen and Kiera (Andre) Stevens, both of Kansas City, Mo, her brothers Rodney Glover and Karlos Magnussen of Kansas City, MO, her aunt, Betty (Jonathan) Bell of St. Louis, MO, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends near and far.
