Lena Mae (Cannon) Williams

Lena Mae Williams was born on November 17, 1929, to the late Jessie and Cora Alice Freeman in Itta Bena Mississippi. Her mother later married Will “Doc” Cannon who raised her as his own.  She departed this life on January 17, 2016 at home.

She grew up and later married her childhood sweetheart Joe Thomas Williams on February 26, 1945. To this union 8 children were born. After leaving Mississippi she moved to Hayti, Mo were she became a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church until her health began to fail.

Lena Mae Williams was preceded in death her parents, Jessie and Cora Freeman, her Step father, Will “Doc” Cannon, her husband, Joe T. Williams: two brothers, Eddie Cannon, Percy Cannon and one sister, Ada Cannon.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children Joe T. (Leah) Williams, John R. Williams, Ollie (Crystal) Williams, Delores Williams of Hayti, Mo.; Oscar (Lythea) Williams of Kansas City, MO.; JoAnn(Ed) Ruff of Hayti, Mo.; Dansy (Diana) Williams of St. Louis, Mo.; Kenneth (Frankie) Williams of Hayti, Mo.

Sisters: Dorothy (Aaron) Leonard, Betty Suttle of St. Louis, Mo.; Cora Mae Stewart of Hayti, Mo.; Nellie Dean of Louisville, Ky.

Brothers: Henry (Ella) Cannon of Radcliff, Ky.; Samuel (Berta) Cannon of Pearl, Ms.; Robert Cannon and Leroy Cannon of St. Louis, Mo.

A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
