Lucinda (Gamble) Royal

On July 5, 1940, in Greenwood, Mississippi, God blessed the union of Elder and Sendie Gamble with a baby girl whom they named Lucinda and affectionately called “Lue.”  She was the third child of eight siblings born to this union.  She transitioned from her earthly body to rest with her heavenly father on September 7, 2018 at St. Louis       University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

The family moved from Mississippi to Swift, Missouri in 1946 and to Hayti, Missouri in 1956.  Lue received her early education in the Missouri school system.

Lue was baptized, upon accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior, at the age of 12 and became a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Swift, Missouri under the leadership of the late Rev. J. B. Berry.  After moving to Hayti, Missouri, she joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Mack.  She remained an active member of Mt. Zion until her passing, serving faithfully throughout the years as the Church Announcer, Choir Member, Mission and Bible Study President, and Sunday School Member.  She loved attending and serving at her church, and     especially enjoyed singing in the choir and also visiting other churches.   She exercised her missionary duties by visiting the nursing home and delivering gifts to residents  during the Christmas Holiday. 

In 1956 she met and married Dan Hall, Jr. who preceded her in death.  Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Franklin and Bruce.   She later met and married Clifton  Royal and to this union three sons were born, Reginald, Kerry and Terance.

Lue was always a hard-working woman who held a variety of jobs to help take care of her family.  Her employment included VNA In-home Care, Missouri Delta Ecumenical Ministry, Nursing Home, and Ross Head-start.  She was a very strong-willed, brave, and independent person.  She endured obstacles, but always remained steadfast in her beliefs.

Lue looked forward to attending her Family Reunion annually in July, and would often start planning early.  Family Reunions were very important to her, and even as her health was failing, she was still determined to attend.  She was one of the original founding members who attended every reunion out of 46 years of meeting.  Lue will certainly be missed by her family and friends who saw her yearly.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father, husband, Clifton Royal, son,   Franklin Gene Hall, three sisters: Qutul Muhammad, Henreaner Collins, and Juanita Hill; four brothers: L. G. Gamble, Sampson Gamble, William Gamble and Henry Gamble.

Lue leaves to cherish her fond memories four sons:  Terance (Terry) Darnell Hall (Farrah) of  Shiloh, Illinois, Kerry Lynn Hall  (Nshana) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Reginald Marcellus Hall (RaeLene) of Ramona, California and Bruce Anthony Hall of Hayti, Missouri; twenty-nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five sisters: Rosie Thomas (Percy) of Markham, Illinois, Martha Gamble and Willie Mae West of Calumet City, Illinois,  Julia  Rowe of Carbondale, Illinois, and Florence Gamble of Chicago,     Illinois; three brothers: Robert  Gamble (Avis) of Racine, Wisconsin, Willie Lee Gamble of Chicago, Illinois, and Rev. Leroy Lockridge (Martha) of Carbondale, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Lucy Royal of Elkhart, Indiana, Joy Hall of Hercules, California, and a host of  nieces, nephews, and cousins.
