Mattie (Latimore) Braxton

Mattie Latimore Braxton, age 71, departed this life on Sunday, February 8, 2015 after an extended illness.  She was born June 2, 1943, in Tutwiler, Mississippi.  Mattie was a resident of Canton, Ohio for eight months.  Mattie lived most of her life in Hayti, Missouri.  She worked at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital until she became ill.

Preceded in death by her husband, James Braxton; grandparents, Mattie and Lezie Latimore; parents, Ossie and Henry Montgomery; daughter, Dorothy Latimore; granddaughter, Temeckie Jones; uncles, Leroy Johnny Lee, Eddie Lee Latimore; and aunt, Urigie Latimore.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her daughter, Levannie (David) Jones; sister, Gerrie Latimore; grandchildren, Lequsha (David) Smittle, Ertha Faye, Nickie Jones; thirteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a very special nephew Tiyung Royale Thomas; special lifelong friends, Ozzie Hall and Ed Childress; as well as a host of nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
