Melissa Kay (Spates) Newman

Melissa Kay Spates- Newman was born June 6, 1965 to Johnola Berry and Cager Spates in Hayti, Missouri.  She was lovingly called "Lisa".  She departed this life August 25, 2016.

Both parents preceded her in death also three sisters, Deloris Ann Hooks, Laurie Ann Hooks-Jones, Juanita Hooks and two brothers, Clarence Parker and Michael Hooks.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Michael Newman, one son, Cager Spates, six grandchildren , Cager Spates, Jr., Casurne Spates, Christian Spates, Jesse Spates, Ashanti Spates and Keyshawn Spates all of Lawrence, Kansas, three sisters, Mary (Roy) Bowens, Martha Davis, Sarrah Spates, four brothers, Waymon (Nannette) Spates, Jo Willie Hooks, Danny Spates and Brian Wesley Hooks.  She had two special friends, Dave Williams and Albert (Dean) Carter and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
