Minister Percy Cannon, Sr., was born on April 20, 1942 to the late Will “Doc” Cannon and Cora Alice Cannon in Itta Bena, MS. He departed this life on December 24, 2014 at home.
He was raised in Hayti, MO and later moved to St. Louis, MO where he worked for University City for a number of years. In 1991 Percy moved back to Hayti, MO and accepted Christ as his Lord. It is here that he married his sweetheart Frances Lenson on April 11, 1992 and began working for Carter Funeral Home.
Minister Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Cora Cannon; one brother, Eddie Cannon; one sister, Ada Cannon; and one brother-in-law, Joe “JT” Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a faithful wife of 22 years, Mrs. Frances Cannon of Hayti, MO; ; his children: Elonzo Brock, Lisa (Marshall Bailey) Cannon, Percy (Laquinta) Cannon, Jr., Kevin Cannon, Charles Lenson, and Steve Lenson; nine siblings: Lena Mae Williams, Cora Mae Stewart, Nellie Dean, Henry (Ella) Cannon, Dorothy (Aaron) Leonard, Betty Suttle, Robert Cannon, Leroy Cannon, and Sammy (Lump) Cannon; 20 grandchildren: Sherman Brock, Percy Brock, Tenisha Wynn, April Rideout, Joshua Cannon, Ben Green, Sabrina Cannon, Akibha Jackson, Staci Cannon, Shariya Cannon, Kevin Cannon, Ariana French, Kailatt Cannon, Kailee Powell, Anthony Taylor, Charles Buress, Jr., Kornell Buress, Keisha Lenson, Steve Lenson, Jr., and Stephanie Lenson; 31 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
