Robert Lee Springer, Jr

Robert Springer, Jr. was born June 26, 1950 to the union of Robert Springer, Sr. and Lula Icey Casey. He was the third oldest of five children. He departed this life suddenly on July 10, 2025.

Peter, as he was affectionately known, worked at the shipyard as a welder for 46 years. You name it, he could do it. In 1974, Peter met the love of his life, Bea. He had to go all the way to Peoria, IL to confess his love and marry Bea. God joined them together and they were married for 51 years to which one daughter, Kayshaun, was born. They instilled so much love, values, and morals into her growing up as an only child.  Peter and Bea helped raise nieces and nephews over the summer to give Kayshaun a special childhood.

Peter loved his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boxing during his spare time. While walking, he liked meeting people and would often stop and talk a while with them. Peter would take his family for vacation every year to Peoria IL, Michigan, and Tennessee so they could visit with other family members. He loved them all! Above all he loved serving the Lord and went to church several times on Sunday. He was an usher, member of the choir, Old Ship of Zion, and served in a number of other roles at St Paul M.B. Church. We fondly called ourselves the usher family due to the 40 years he served as an usher. Peter would say, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord”, and we did. He was so happy with life; but he knew there was a better place once his time was done on earth, one with no pain or sadness.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Lonnie & James Casey, and Jimmy Springer. He leaves to celebrate his life and memories: his loving wife Bea (Elvie); one daughter, Kayshaun; the son they raised as their own, Lamont; one sister, Lula Mae; six grandsons, Kenny (whom they helped raise many summers),  Demitrus, Jemer, Brandon, Deqarius, and Jehennsey Cooper; one granddaughter, Keishauna; 37 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; his church family and his neighbor, Mr. J.T. Spicer.
